Executive Board
Mrs. B. Kopelman, Principal
Born and raised in New York, Mrs. Kopelman attended Bais Yaakov High School and Seminary, later obtaining a B.A. in Education and History. Trained as a computer programmer, she worked at the IBM Research Laboratory in Zurich. She has extensive experience at the high school and seminary levels, having taught many years in the U.S. and Eretz Yisrael. Mrs. Kopelman has been the principal of Bais Yaakov Machon Chen since its inception.
Mrs. V. Sternbuch, Board President
Mrs. Sternbuch, an American native, is a Zurich mother, who, with a firm belief that a teenage daughter belongs at home, founded Bais Yaakov Machon Chen with its goal of educational excellence. Her dedicated interest and generous support ensure the growth and development of Machon Chen. Her presence is actively felt at Machon Chen.
Mrs. G. Krakauer, Board Member
Mrs. Krakauer is a proud Zurich native and mother. Believing it to be a necessity to keep girls of this age at home, she considered it a privilege to found Bais Yaakov Machon Chen. She consistently surmounts all obstacles to ensure its continuity and success. Her exuberance and dedication are legendary, causing a ripple effect on the entire staff.
Mrs. R. Sternbuch, Board Member, Assistant Principal
Mrs. Sternbuch grew up in Zurich and studied at the Michlalah Jerusalem College for Women for four years, qualifying as a high-school teacher. She has been teaching at Bais Yaakov Machon Chen since its inception, and has been its assistant principal since 2015, responsible for secular studies.

Mrs. L. Mresse, Finance
Mrs. Mresse grew up in Switzerland and is the proud mother and grandmother of B.Y. Machon Chen graduates. She has been B.Y. Machon Chen’s faithful bookkeeper since its founding.
Mrs. L. Lauber, Secretary
Mrs. Lauber grew up in Zurich and is a Machon Chen graduate. She attended Bnos Sarah Seminary in Eretz Yisrael and is delighted to be teaching at her alma mater since 2020. She joined the office staff in 2023.
Mrs. N. Miller, Secretary
Mrs. Miller was born in Zurich and studied Special Education in Israel. She lived and taught for four years in South Africa before returning to Switzerland. She taught at the Etz Chaim School for Special Education, founded the Jewish Montessori kindergarten in Zurich, and has guided other Jewish kindergartens in the region. Mrs. Miller has been secretary at B.Y.Machon Chen since 2010.
Mrs. L. Reifer, Secretary
Mrs. Reifer grew up in Zurich and attended Bais Yaakov Machon Chen, before continuing her studies at BYA Seminary in Eretz Yisrael. She returned to Zurich after living for eight years in Israel and is delighted to be working as secretary in her alma mater.

Mrs. S. Adler, Jewish History, Pirkei Avos/Ethics of the Fathers
Mrs. Adler was born and raised in Antwerp, Belgium, where she graduated with a teaching diploma. After marrying, she settled in Switzerland, and is deeply grateful for the opportunity to teach at Bais Yaakov Machon Chen since its inception.
Mrs. F. Beck, Jewish History
Mrs. Beck, born and raised in Vienna, studied in the Bais Yaakov system for ten years, followed by two years at Gateshead Seminary, England. Subsequently, she taught at Bais Yaakov of Vienna and took educational courses in reading, concentrating on focusing issues, particularly for children with ADHD/ADD. She lived in Israel before moving to Zurich, Switzerland. Mrs. Beck has been teaching Jewish History at B.Y. Machon Chen since 2022.
Mrs. Ch. Benet, Haftorah/Topics in Prophets
Mrs. Benet grew up in Antwerp, Belgium and attended Jesodei Hatorah Beis Jakov. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Vives University in Kortrijk, Belgium. She majored in teaching maths and English on the high school / secondary level. Mrs. Benet has many years teaching experience at the elementary and secondary levels in Belgium and Switzerland. She has lived in Zurich, Switzerland since 2016 and joined the Machon Chen staff in 2023.
Rabbi B. Brunschwig, Parshas Hashavua/Weekly Bible Portion
Rabbi Brunschwig was born and raised in Basel, where he attended the local Jewish schools. He continued his Talmudic studies in Yeshivas Shaarei Torah (Manchester), Yeshivas Yad Aharon and Yeshivas Mir (Yerushalayim). He studied at a Halacha Kollel in Ramot and completed a Chinuch course at Torah Education Institute (New York). Returning to Basel and joining the Kollel there, he also started to teach the local Mittelschule. His teaching experience includes boys and girls, different age groups, and covers a wide spectrum of Jewish subjects. He joined the Machon Chen staff in 2023.
Mrs. G. Diamant, Hebrew
Mrs. Diamant, a Basel resident, was born in Switzerland and lived in Israel for many years, where she qualified as a language teacher. She taught in the Basel Jewish day school and joined B.Y. Machon Chen in 2020 as a Hebrew language teacher.
Mrs. Sch. Direnfeld, Holocaust, Trials and Triumph
Mrs. Direnfeld was raised in Zurich and graduated from Manchester Seminary. She has been teaching at the boys’ elementary school for over fifteen years and joined B.Y. Machon Chen in 2017.
Rabbi S. Dzialoszynski, Chumash/Bible
Rabbi Dzialoszynski grew up in Switzerland and attended the Luzern Yeshivah, as well as other yeshivos and kollelim in Eretz Yisrael. He later returned to Switzerland, and is a prominent member and experienced teacher in the Basel community. He has been part of the B.Y. Machon Chen staff since 2007.
Mrs. S. Eiger, Extracurricular (G.O.) Coordinator
Mrs. Eiger, born and educated in Switzerland, attended the Aix-les-Bains seminary, followed by a year at BJJ Seminary in Yerushalayim. She has over twenty years of experience in classroom teaching, including mentorship and leadership positions. Mrs. Eiger speaks six languages: German, French, English, Hebrew, Yiddish, and Italian. She has been the dynamic head of the extracurricular department at B.Y. Machon Chen since 2006.
Mrs. R. Elefant, German
Mrs. Elefant, a Swiss native, is a graduate of Gateshead Seminary. She has been active for many years in the N’shei Agudas Achim Zurich. She gives private German language lessons at B.Y. Machon Chen.
Mrs. S. Fein, Extracurricular (G.O.) Assistant
Mrs. Fein grew up in Antwerp, Belgium, and studied at Gateshead Seminary. She lived in Yerushalayim as a newlywed and subsequently moved to Zurich in 2009. She thrives on creativity and is grateful for the opportunity to work in the extracurricular department at B.Y. Machon Chen.
Mrs. T. Fischer, English
Mrs. Fischer, a native of Antwerp, graduated from Gateshead Seminary and has been teaching at B.Y. Machon Chen since its inception. She has a Master’s degree in Education, English Literature, and Linguistics from the University of Zurich.
Mrs. K. Fux, Personal Skills
Mrs. Fux, a German native, graduated with a degree in Germanistics, Pedagogy, and Psychology. She has been teaching for over thirty years, specializing in Business German and correspondence. She is on the VSH Board of Directors in the German department and joined B.Y. Machon Chen in 2018.
Mrs. R.L. Glass, English
Mrs. Glass was raised in New York, and continued her studies in seminary in Basel, Luzern, and London. She began her teaching career at the age of seventeen, and has been teaching ever since. She specializes in teaching English as a second language and preparing her students for the Cambridge English Language exams. She joined B.Y. Machon Chen in 2015.
Mrs. S. Goldenberg, Hashkafah/Philosophy
Born and educated in Chicago, Mrs. Goldenberg studied at BJJ Seminary, Yerushalayim. She has lived in New York, Yerushalayim, and Zurich. She is the grateful mother and grandmother of a large, beautiful family. She joined the B.Y. Machon Chen Kodesh staff in 2017.
Miss Ch. Grunwald, Bookkeeping
Miss Grunwald, born in Israel and raised in Switzerland, is a graduate of Machon Chen in Zurich, and attended Bnos Yehudis Seminary in Eretz Yisrael. She graduated with the VSK Höheres Wirtschaftsdiplom, and continued to acquire a Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts from Excelsior College, USA. She has been a teacher of Bookkeeping at B.Y. Machon Chen since 2021, in addition to teaching Mathematics at the JSZ and working as a Bookkeeper in a private Real Estate firm.
Mrs. Ch. Grunwald, Chasdei Debby Program
Mrs. Grunwald grew up in London, attended Manchester Seminary, and has been living in Switzerland for seventeen years. She has added her creativity and social competence to the B.Y. Machon Chen G.O. team since 2013.
Miss R. Grunwald, Tefillah/Liturgy
Miss Grunwald grew up in Zurich and attended Machon Chen before learning at Bnos Yehudis Seminary in Eretz Yisrael. She graduated with the VSH Handelsdiplom and VSK Höhere Wirtschaftsdiplom, as well as diplomas in Advanced Computers, Mathematics, and Languages. Now she is delighted to be back at B.Y. Machon Chen, a place where she gained so much, and has been teaching Tefillah since 2022.
Miss T. Helman, Koheles/Ecclesiastes, Business
Miss Helman, born and raised in Basel, Switzerland, attended JMS, Basel, and Bais Yaakov Machon Chen, Zurich. After graduating with the VSK Höheres Wirtschaftsdiplom, she attended Maalot Yerushalayim in Israel, where she studied for a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Thomas Edison State University, USA. She is currently working as a computer programmer for Dreyfus Bank in Basel, and we are happy to have had her teach business subjects at B.Y. Machon Chen since 2022.
Mrs. S. Kenig, Psychology
Mrs. Kenig, a native Israeli, studied Holistic Psychotherapy at the Shai Institute, a college for complementary medicine, recognized by Bar Ilan University in Israel, and practices Holistic Psychotherapy, Diagnostic Counseling, and Emotional Therapy in Switzerland. She joined the B.Y. Machon Chen Staff in 2021.
Mrs. D. Killer, Hebrew
Mrs. Killer, an Israeli native, trained as a machine designer and worked at KWC in Aargau. She taught Modern Hebrew at the Migros Klubschule for ten years and has taught at B.Y. Machon Chen since 2000. During her years of teaching at the JSZ Zurich, she developed and authored a series of three Hebrew language textbooks and workbooks.
Mrs. Sh. Klausner, Pedagogy
Mrs. Klausner, a Swiss native, attended Bais Chaya Mushka Seminary in Montreal, Canada, which is recognized by the McGill University in Canada. She trained as a Reflex Integration therapist and as a CVS trainer. She has been teaching Jewish children in Montreal, Basel, and Zurich for over twenty years. She joined the B.Y. Machon Chen staff in 2019.
Mrs. B. Kopelman (Principal), Hashkafah/Philosophy

Mrs. A. Kornfein, Advanced Computers
Mrs. Kornfein, a Basel native, graduated from Machon Chen before attending Bnos Chava Seminary in Yerushalayim. She has been teaching advanced computers at B.Y. Machon Chen since 2008. She has been very involved in many extracurricular activities and her creativity enriches the G.O. program.
Mrs. L. Kostelits, Hebrew
Mrs. Kostelits grew up in Israel and attended Bais Yaakov Seminary. She taught for thirty years in high schools in Israel and Brazil. She has been teaching Modern Hebrew at B.Y. Machon Chen since 2016.
Miss R. Kosterlits, Marketing
Mrs. H. Krakauer, Tzohar, GPS, Chovos Halevavos/Duties of the Heart
Mrs. Krakauer was born and raised in New York and attended Bais Yaakov D’Gur and Bais Yaakov Teachers Seminary in Boro Park. She later obtained a B.A. in Special Education and worked as a P’tach special education co-teacher. She moved to Switzerland in 2002 and has been a member of the B.Y. Machon Chen team since then.
Mrs. P. Krakauer, BYMC Lunch
Mrs. Krakauer, born in Yerushalayim, Israel, and raised in New York, moved to Zurich upon her marriage. She graduated from Bais Brocha with a Regents diploma and attended Bais Yaakov Teachers Seminary in the USA. She has run the lunch program since 2021, in which students take turns preparing a hot lunch for fellow students. Mrs. Krakauer’s creativity and joy of cooking are great assets for BYMC Lunch.

Mrs. Lauber grew up in Zurich and is a Machon Chen graduate. She attended Bnos Sarah Seminary in Eretz Yisrael and is delighted to be teaching at her alma mater since 2020.
Mrs. M. Leiner, Tehillim/Psalms
Mrs. Leiner grew up in Zurich and attended Machon Chen. Upon graduating, she studied at BSS Seminary in Manchester, returning to teach business studies. She trained as a Feuerstein specialist and is currently studying Pedagogy and Didactics at the University of Education in Zurich (PHZH). She graduated Excelsior College with a B.A. in Liberal Arts. She currently teaches Tehillim at B.Y. Machon Chen.
Miss D. Levy, Computers
Miss Levy grew up in Zurich, Switzerland, and attended Machon Chen, followed by a year in Israel at Mesoras Rochel Seminary. She graduated with the VSH Handelsdiplom, and acquired a Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts from Thomas Edison State University, USA. She enjoys interacting with teenagers and has been a skilled computer teacher at B.Y. Machon Chen since 2019, in addition to her work in a real estate office.
Mrs. S. Levy, Megillah/Scrolls
Mrs. Levy grew up in Yerushalayim and Switzerland. She lived in Eretz Yisrael for twelve years after her marriage and moved to Zurich in 2016. She has been teaching at B.Y. Machon Chen since 2018. She is also a remedial teacher at the Etz Chaim Special Education school in Zürich.
Mrs. R.L. Lichtenstein, Mathematics, Algebra, Sciences
Originally from Manchester, England, Mrs. Lichtenstein has been living in Zurich for fifteen years. She graduated from the Open University with a B.S. in Computers and Math Sciences. She is talented in music, art, and dance. She has been teaching at B.Y. Machon Chen since 2007.
Mrs. D. Ollech, Graphics
Mrs. Ollech grew up in Antwerp. During her school years she discovered her love for photography and photo editing. In 2011 she moved to Switzerland, and started teaching in B.Y. Machon Chen in 2018.
Mrs. A. Perlman, Hebrew
Mrs. Perlman, a native Israeli, studied at the Machon Bais Yaakov Lemorot Seminary in Yerushalayim, where she received her teacher’s certification. She taught Hebrew and Mathematics in Israel for sixteen years before moving to Zurich. She has been a member of the Machon Chen team since 2013.
Mrs. S. Rosenberg, German
Mrs. Rosenberg, born and raised in Zurich, studied in the Jewish school system for ten years, followed by two years at Tichon Beth Chanah Chabad and one year at Beth Rivkah Teachers’ Seminary in Crown Heights, USA. She has twenty years’ teaching experience in the USA and Switzerland, and has been teaching German at B.Y. Machon Chen since 2022.
Mrs. Ch. Rosenfeld, Parshas Hashavua/Weekly Bible Portion
Mrs. Rosenfeld is a mother and grandmother hailing from Brooklyn, NY, and has been a Chabad Shlucha in Zurich since 1991. She has been teaching Parshah since B.Y. Machon Chen opened.
Miss R.L. Rothschild, German Language, Office Skills, Current Events
Miss Rothschild, a Swiss native, attended Machon Chen and Chemdas Seminary in Eretz Yisrael. She graduated with a B.A. in Liberal Arts from Excelsior College. She has taught at the preschool level and joined B.Y. Machon Chen in 2020.
Rabbi Ch. Rotsztein, Halachah/Jewish Law
Rabbi Rotsztein grew up in London, England, where he obtained GCSEs and A-levels in Mathematics, Sciences, and Languages. He continued his talmudic studies at Gateshead Yeshivah, where he was deeply inspired by the halachah lectures of Rabbi Pesach Eliyahu Falk, whose teaching style and halachic rulings form the blueprint of his current lessons. He studied at Mir, Yerushalayim, before his marriage and move to Zurich, Switzerland, in 2012. Rabbi Rotsztein received Semichah from Rav Schlesinger (Eidah Hachareidis Yerushalayim). He is currently learning in the Kolel Birkas Avrohom, Zurich, and has been teaching at B.Y. Machon Chen since 2022.
Mrs. R. Sternbuch, Eishes Chayil/Women in the Bible, Meforshim/Biblical Exegesis
Mrs. Sternbuch grew up in Zurich and studied at the Michlalah Jerusalem College for Women for four years, qualifying as a high-school teacher. She has been teaching at B.Y. Machon Chen since its inception, and has been its assistant principal since 2015, responsible for secular studies.
Mrs. S. Tawil, G.O. Assistant Coordinator
Mrs. Tawil, born and raised in Johannesburg, South Africa, attended Yeshiva Maharsha Beis Aharon before studying at Seminar Yerushalayim in Eretz Yisrael. She received a Bachelor of Education degree through UNISA (University of South Africa). She taught various subjects to high-school students, as well as running the extracurricular program in Johannesburg and Israel, before her marriage and subsequent move to Zurich, Switzerland. We are delighted to have benefited, since 2022, from her strong social skills and creativity in our Machon Chen G.O. program.
Miss Ch. Taub, Advanced Computers
Miss Taub was born and raised in Switzerland and attended Machon Chen, followed by Hadar Bais Yaakov Seminary (Machon Greenberg) in Jerusalem, Israel. She graduated with the VSH Handelsdiplom, and, upon returning from Israel, continued her studies in the field of accounting, obtaining a Rimo R5 Abschluss HKNK and Sachbearbeiterin im Rechnungswesen (SWS). Miss Taub uses her bookkeeping expertise at Euro Estates GmbH and has been teaching Accounting at B.Y. Machon Chen since 2022.
Miss B. Wreschner, Novi/Prophets, Shemiras Haloshon/Interpersonal Communication
Miss Wreschner, born and raised in Zurich, attended Machon Chen, followed by a year in Eretz Yisrael at Beth Jacob Jerusalem (BJJ) Seminary. She has a keen interest in Jewish Studies and is currently pursuing a B.A. degree. She has been a member of the B.Y. Machon Chen staff since 2020 and is running its Shemiras Haloshon program, as well as teaching classes in Novi.
Mrs. E. Zoladz, Advanced Business Studies
Mrs. Zoladz, a Dutch native, has a Master’s degree in Banking and Finance from the University of Zurich. She currently works for Bank Julius Baer in the Product Control department. She has taught Bookkeeping at B.Y. Machon Chen since 2008.
Miss M. Zwiebel, Macroeconomics
Miss Zwiebel was born and raised in Switzerland and attended Machon Chen, followed by Nishmas Bais Yaakov Seminary in Jerusalem, Israel. She currently teaches in the Judische Schule Zurich and is active in their extracurricular program. She acquired the VSH Business Diploma (Handelsdiplom) and uses this knowledge to teach Business Studies and Marketing at Machon Chen since 2023.
Rabbi Sch. Zwiebel, Halachah/Jewish Law
Rabbi Zwiebel, a native of Antwerp, studied at the Gateshead Yeshivah and learned in Ponevezh in Eretz Yisrael. Upon returning to Zurich, he learned several years in the Zurich Kollel. He taught for many years at the Torah Vodaas boys’ school and has been teaching at B.Y. Machon Chen since 2002.
Esteemed Lecturers
- Rabbi E. M. Lang, previously Maggid Shiur in the Yeshiva Gedola in Afula, Israel, and currently Rosh Yeshivas Mechina L’zeirim in Zurich. He presents a weekly class on Sefer Mishlei.
- Rabbi M. Mosbacher, previously Mashgiach in Yeshivas Luzern and currently on the faculty of Yeshiva Lezeirim, Zurich, who delivers a weekly lecture on Sefer Kuzari.
- Rabbi Rapaport is a Musmach of Yeshiva Torah Vodaas and a graduate of Torah Umesorah Teachers Training Institute. He was one of the original teachers, bringing the beauty of Tehillim to his students. He delivers a monthly lecture at Machon Chen, highlighting the unique characteristic of each month in the Jewish calendar.
